One of the pleasures of writing a newsletter on Bulletin is the wonderful community of fellow writers I get to work with. One of those writers is the queen of contemporary fiction and one of the most dynamic people creative people I know.
Adriana Trigiani is the New York Times- bestselling author of 20 fiction and nonfiction books. She has been published in 38 countries around the world. The Times calls her “a comedy writer with a heart of gold” and her books “tiramisu for the soul.” She wrote the blockbuster The Shoemaker’s Wife, the Big Stone Gap series, and the Valentine trilogy. Adriana’s themes of love and work have brought her legions of fans who call themselves Adri-addicts.
She also writes a Bulletin, Adriana’s Ink, on creativity and hosts a weekly Facebook Live series in which she interviews authors about their work. It’s been called the world’s largest book club.
I was honored this month to turn the tables and be the first to interview her about her remarkable, sweeping new novel, The Good Left Undone. Moving swiftly between contemporary Italy, World War II France, the Scottish Highlands, and the high seas, the book tells the wildly entertaining story of one family, the secrets they hide, and the love they discover. Library Journal, in their starred review, says, “Trigiani conveys the beauty of Italy, the hardships of war, the taste of family recipes, and the enduring love of family."

And boy, does this book have great food! My favorite part of our conversation was when I asked Adriana about all the pastries in her book—strudel, sfogliatelle, bomboloni. One entire love story turns on a ham brioche. I asked her what food she would be serving at her launch party, and, without missing a beat, she shared a recipe.
I hope you enjoy this exclusive interview. I know you’ll enjoy The Good Left Undone.
