February was a huge month for The Nonlinear Life. We expanded in new directions, added tons of new readers, and welcome our biggest burst of new subscribers in our history. Thank you, and welcome to all! And we touched on lots of new topics, from Shel Silverstein's books to Tom Brady's retirement to George Washington's faith.
Here are some of our favorite pieces and comments from the past four weeks:
Who said dinner and drinks at the same restaurant every month was the big key to romance? Wrong! We loved digging into new ways to make your romantic relationships thrive and hearing your thoughts during the month of love:
I really enjoyed Art's 36 Questions That Lead to Love! I suppose a good takeaway is that exploration (whether emotional, physical, or even geographic) always pushes us outside of our comfort zones inside and out of relationships. - Ryan Huettel
Shel Silverstein's collection of poems A Light In The Attic headlined our focus on banned literature in America today, speaking to the power of words and the silliness of censorship. Most of you were simply shocked that this beloved writers was outlawed at all.
My kids grew up with Shel’s books. As grownups, they still go back and read some again. We love him. - Irene Steffes Jordan
Learn how to trust your child’s instincts. If you don’t, perhaps that’s saying something about your parenting. - Doug Hargrove
Happy birthday, George Washington. And thanks for all you did for interfaith relations. Wait, George Washington cared about religion? This Presidents Day brought some great reader comments about this overlooked facet of one of America's most prominent political icons:
Washington did many wonderful things. It’s a shame he spent the end of his life chasing runaway slaves. Many of the founding fathers held slaves. However, he did much more good than harm and owning slaves was not a black mark in his time. Although it should have been. - David Charles Weaver
It's official, the GOAT has hung up his helmet. But not before hearing from me. Hah! ESPN asked me to give Tom Brady some advice on his retirement. Check out what I said, and these comments:
I’m curious what you could say to improve his routines.I doubt if he has had much “me” time. - Bob McFerren
As a Bostonian in transition, I loved this piece! Best of luck to Tom on his next life adventure. - Lauren Bittrich
As March creeps upon us, we look forward to weathering what's left of winter with all of you. Stay tuned for new content and continue to remain poised with thought-provoking questions and feedback for us as winter begins to wane!
